Title: Post Steward Employer: American Legion, Synepuxent Post 166, Ocean City, MD Summary of Position: The American Legion, Synepuxent Post 166 is a non-profit private military affiliated organization that serves veterans, their families and the local community through charitable activities. Post 166 maintains a facility that houses a meeting hall, restaurant, kitchen, two bars, and office space that serve our estimated 2,000 members and their guests. Knowledge Skills & Abilities: The ideal candidate will possess the following… · Have five years’ experience managing a bar, restaurant and/or rental facility and/or hold a college degree in hospitality or possess equivalent combination of · Ability to maintain a harmonious work relationship between yourself, your assigned staff, Synepuxent Post 166 leadership and members and guests of the Post 166 facilities. · Demonstrated ability to communicate in a positive attitude, with sincere interest, and interact in a positive manner with staff, customers, vendors, and the general public. · Possesses the ability to set a good example for the staff with regard to punctuality, attendance, attitude, customer service, dress, and hygiene.
Detailed Duties & Responsibilities: The following are descriptions of the main duties and responsibilities expected of the Post Steward. Other duties may be assigned by the House Committee Chair as needed. · Manages the day-to-day activities and administrative support of the Post 166 employees. · Maintain and use various IT systems including security cameras, computers, display boards, audio and visual equipment, and Microsoft Suite of business applications. · Order and maintain inventory of beer liquor wine soda food products glassware paper products utensils cleaning products and other items needed for proper bar operation. · Conduct an inventory of beer, wine, and liquor on a monthly basis and compare quantities against sales. · Order and maintain an inventory of food products, equipment, paper products, utensils, cleaning products, and other items needed to maintain the kitchen. · Maintain and review the events calendar on a weekly basis and ensure that sufficient food items are available for events, lunch specials, dinner, and fundraising projects. · Review and process requisitions relating to food, supplies, and kitchen equipment. · Inspect the kitchen on a daily basis to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with state and federal regulations. · Provide direct supervision for and coordinate activities of custodial and maintenance staff members. · Inspect building and grounds on daily basis for repair and maintenance purposes. · Consult and advise staff on maintaining a safe and sanitary environment to comply with state and federal regulations. · Ensure proper operation and maintenance of building machinery equipment to include media/audio-visual, electrical, plumbing, and Heating and Air conditioning systems. · Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained regarding post operations such as inventory, materials needed, supply levels, work performed, and status of work projects. · Coordinate hall rental activities with Post 166 leadership, staff and customers, maintaining records, planning and ordering food and beverage, ensure proper setup of rented facility, and secure entertainment related for hall rentals. · Supervise and manage the sale of clothing and legion emblems, maintain inventory and managing display of merchandise. · Justify, report, and record daily Lottery, Keno & Pull-tabs money activities. Deposit monies in a proper post account and submit deposit slips to the bookkeeper. · Ensure that proper cash monies are maintained, machines are in proper operation, and maintain an adequate inventory of pull tabs, lottery and keno ticket, and supplies related for daily operation. · Supervise the proper health and safety standards, ensuring they are maintained and regularly improved upon. · Ensure that health safety and security regulations and procedures are adhered to throughout the facility. · Maintain a culture of good order and discipline throughout the facility and report infractions to the House Committee in accordance with American Legion and Post 166 guidelines.
